David R. Smith, Shareholder, with
Stubbeman, McRae, Sealy, Laughlin & Browder, Inc., presented "Unique Issues With Lease Provisions." Mr. Smith joined the firm in December of 2002 after receiving a Bachelors of Business
Administration (with a concentration in Petroleum Land Management) from Texas Tech University in 1998 and his Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law in 2002. He is licensed in Texas
(2002), New Mexico (2003) and Arkansas (2009). In 2013, he became Board certified in oil, gas and mineral law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
As a shareholder in the firm, David
works in many areas of oil and gas law, as well as consulting on various issues including rights-of-way, pooling, unitization, purchase and sale agreements, and other legal matters relating to oil
and gas law in Texas, New Mexico and Arkansas.
He has been a guest professor at
Midland College where he spoke on “Pooling Basics in Texas and New Mexico,” and has been the guest lecturer at several functions, including the Houston Association of Division Order Analysts (“What’s
With All of These Title Requirements”); Permian Association of Lease Title Analysts (“What With All of These Title Requirements” and “The Non-Consenting Non-Participating Royalty Interest Owner”);
Permian Basin Association of Division Order Analysts (“Chaining Title and Calculating Interests”); National Association of Lease Title Analysts “Chaining Title and Calculating Interests”); and the
25th Advanced Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Course (“NPRIs: Selected Issues Involving Non-Participating Royalty Interests”). He received a Certificate of Appreciation in Recognition of
Distinguished Service on the Faculty of the 25th Advanced Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Course.
He is a member of the Texas Tech
University Health Science Center of the Permian Basin, a graduate of Leadership Midland, Class of 2005; and served on the Board of Trustees (as Secretary in 2006) and as Representative to the
Finance Committee of First United Methodist Church in Midland. David is also a member of the Permian Basin Landman’s Association and the Midland County Young Lawyer’s
David is a fourth generation Midlander.

Joel T. Parsons, Senior Oil and Gas Associate from Davis, Gerald & Cremer. Mr. Parsons was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas and received his Bachelor's from
Texas Tech in 2007, his JD from the University of Texas in 2010 and is licensed to practice law in Texas and New Mexico. His firm focuses on title and related transactional matters, and Mr.
Parsons has a lovely wife, Tiffany and a 1 1/2 year old son named Grayson.

Austin Frye, Senior Landman - Business Development with COG Operating, presented "Production Sharing & Allocation Wells". He received his BS from Texas A&M in 2007 and a Masters in Energy Business from The University of Tulsa in 2014. Austin started
his career with XTO Energy in Fort Worth, working in the East Texas and Louisiana group. In 2010, Austin joined Concho where he has worked in the Permian Basin on multiple teams and assets. He has a
CPL certification from the American Association of Professional Landmen the same organization where he currently sits on the Tax Issues Committee.

Alex Hester, Sr. Landman - Business Development with SM Energy Company, was our guest speaker for the March luncheon, presenting "2015 Business Development in the
Permian." Alex has substantive business development experience in the Permian Basin; participating in over half a billion dollars of acquisitions, the marketing and divesting of over 100,000
acres and the creation of various key join venture partnerships. Her varied career includes project management; recruiting; mentoring program management; business development; exploration; new
ventures and asset development.
Seth Cunneen, Completions & Workover Manager at CrownQuest Operating, LLC, was our guest speaker for the February luncheon, presenting "Hydraulic Fracturing".
Mr. Cunneen joined CrownQuest in 2007 and has served in drilling, completions, and production operations. He currently manages completions and workovers. From 1999 to 2007, Mr.
Cunneen served as an officer in the U.S. Army. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Masters of Engineering in Petroleum from Texas
A&M University. He is a member of SPE.
